On a general level, if you want attention to detail, you need the person to feel that the detail matters. When teaching English, one thing I ask students to do is correct erroneous sentences where the list of sentences are all ones they've written.
As for a minimum standard of work, that phrase itself is only defined if below-threshold work is treated as unusable or unacceptable. For example, when my students are lazy and do their homework in a sloppy fashion, I write"Zero" on top and hand it back along with a fresh copy of the same homework.
