Sugar Land’s Newest Korean Barbecue Restaurant Has Arrived

An Asiatown favorite for Korean barbecue just opened in Sugar Land over the weekend.

Jang Guem Tofu & BBQ is now open at 3528 Hwy 6, offering up the same menu of dishes that’s made it a favorite Bellaire Boulevard destination for Korean barbecue for more than 10 years. The new Sugar Land location follows in the footsteps of another smaller outpost that just opened in Katy several months ago.

Jang Guem Tofu & BBQ’s Sugar Land outpost seats about 90 people between booth and table seating and offers up a plethora of Asian dishes including two dozen types of tofu soup with squid, fishcake, kimchee, beef intestines, and more. Korean barbecue is obviously on offer with dishes like spicy barbecue pork, pork belly, and bulgogi, alongside noodle and bibimbap rice dishes.

This corner of Sugar Land is rapidly becoming a dining destination for Asian fare. As Eater previously reported, a Taiwanese chain for crispy chicken, Monga Fried Chicken, will open its first Houston-area location inside the Jusgo Supermarket food court which is set to arrive soon. Also slated to debut inside the supermarket are Chinese dim sum spot Mala Sichuan Bistro, as well as Sweetie Bakery Cafe among other new dining options: Courtyard Cuisine, Xing’s Kitchen, Manila Sizzling Plate, Meizhou Dongpo, and Poke Sushi, according to an Eater tipster.
