Nick Alas was a wizard and Gryffindor student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the 1990s. Sometime in the 1990s, the library books he took out were overdue, and thus his name was included on a list of students with overdue books that was hung on the bulletin board in the Gryffindor common room by Madam Pince.[3]

When read aloud, Nick's name sounds like "Nicolas", of which Nick is a common shortened form.
