The 1990s was a strange, violent period in the history of the wizarding world. The mid-1990s was the era of the second war against Lord Voldemort, though the origins of it go back much farther. In fact, one might conclude the first war against Voldemort had not actually ended and that the second war was a mere continuation.
The 1990s was also the time period when Harry Potter, Ron and Ginny Weasley, Hermione Granger, Neville Longbottom, Luna Lovegood and Draco Malfoy attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. More specifically the years in which this group attended the school were 1991 to 1999.
