The Moose Jaw Meteorites were a Canadian Quidditch team that played out of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. They were considered one of the most accomplished Quidditch teams in the world.[1]
History[]
In the 1970s, they were threatened with disbandment due to their penchant for performing victory flights over nearby towns while trailing fiery sparks from their brooms, a breach of the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy by potentially exposing wizarding activities to Muggles.
The Meteorites had since confined this tradition to Quidditch pitch at the end of the game, and Meteorite games were considered a tourist attraction.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- Moose Jaw is a city in south-central Saskatchewan, Canada. In the real world, it also has a famous flying tradition, housing the home base of the Royal Canadian Air Force's acrobatic demonstration team, the Snowbirds.
- The image of the Meteorites player has the image of a Moose on the end of his Broomstick, in apparent reference to his home town. Its unknown if it was manufactured this way, or it it was somehow added by the players of the team.
