The lineup is a little strange, with Donald Byrd and Art Farmer on two trumpets and Jackie McLean on alto sax, but the sound that comes out is typical hard bop.

The interplay between Farmer and Bird is exquisite, and McLean's playing is also good.

Fans of this kind of album will not be disappointed.

The jacket is terrible, but the contents are worth buying.
