Ghosts are spirits of deceased characters that appear in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online.
Description[]
The ghosts are mentioned to exist by characters from both the 3D Universe and the HD Universe through talk shows interviews, in-game websites and other pedestrian dialogue, but only physically appearing as secrets in the HD Universe.
They usually appear as invulnerable props (either a 2D texture or a 3D model) in the form of a "zombified" character model in standing posture. All of the ghosts appearing in the series share the same appearance – floating in mid-air, invisible hands and feet, featuring glowing eyes and slowed voice with an echo effect. They are not hostile to the player and fade away if the player gets close enough.
Hostile vehicles possessed by ghosts appear in seasonal Halloween Random Events in GTA Online.

Grand Theft Auto V[]
- The ghost of Jolene Cranley-Evans, the deceased wife of stuntman and politician Jock Cranley, can be found on top of Mount Gordo in Blaine County at night, between 23:00 and 00:00. She is also visible and heard from the campsite in the foothills of the mountain.
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
- The ghost of Jolene Cranley-Evans is also present in Grand Theft Auto Online, on top of Mount Gordo at night, between 23:00 and 00:00. She is also visible and heard from the Mount Gordo Facility.
- A possessed Tornado Custom, dubbed the "Phantom Car", appears during a recurring Halloween random event, first introduced in the Los Santos Tuners update in 2021.
- A possessed Apocalypse Cerberus appears during a recurring Halloween random event, first introduced in The Criminal Enterprises update in 2022.
- Ten ghosts (including the ghost of Johnny Klebitz) appear as a form of seasonal Halloween collectible to be photographed for a ghosts-related documentary team, introduced in the San Andreas Mercenaries update in 2023. The ghosts disappear once they are photographed.
- In the Bottom Dollar Bounties update, ten ghosts (including the ghost of Dom Beasley) appear in the same form of collectible for the Halloween 2024 event.
