RON-GTAIV-GasStations-MeadowsPark

A RON filling station in Grand Theft Auto IV.

Filling stations, also known as gas stationspetrol stations, or service stations, have been featured in every game in the Grand Theft Auto series since Grand Theft Auto III.

Description[]

As limited fuel is not a game mechanic in Grand Theft Auto games, they are not interactive, except for in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, where they are used to create Molotov Cocktails. They appear as stationary explosive objects, where the fuel dispensers can explode if shot at or run over with a vehicle. The strength of the explosion vary between games, ranging from small, grenade-like explosions to highly violent blasts that can instantly kill the player upon impact. Some service stations in Grand Theft Auto V have accessible interiors. However, the player will receive a two-star wanted level if all the dispensers are blown up.

The prices on price boards generally reflect the prices of the place and era of the game in which they are found. For example, fuel prices in the 3D Universe rendition of San Andreas are $1.34 to $1.49 a gallon, typical for fuel in California circa 1992.

3D Universe[]

Grand Theft Auto III and Liberty City Stories[]

Grand Theft Auto Advance[]

  • Gas n Go, with a filling station in Harwood, Portland.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City[]

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas[]

HD Universe[]

Grand Theft Auto IV[]

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars[]

All featured stations from GTA IV return (minus those in Alderney, due to its absence), as well as several more which are more depots than stations. These can be used to play the molotov minigame, in which fuel is purchased then guided into bottles in order to produce Molotov Cocktails.

Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online[]

Trivia[]

  • Some places exist where filling stations once stood. One notable example is the Doherty Garage in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which was previously a Xoomer station. The reverse can also be true. For example, the Going filling station in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is not present in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.
  • In Grand Theft Auto III and GTA Vice City, driving into the fuel pumps will not cause them to blow up. They will simply fall to the ground instead. However, doing so in GTA San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto V, and Grand Theft Auto Online will more than likely cause them to blow up instantly.
  • In GTA III, GTA IV, GTA V, and GTA Online, individual pumps in a housing section can be destroyed if shot at, while others can remain intact. However, destroying one pump by shooting at it GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas will cause all other pumps in the same housing section to be destroyed as well.
  • In GTA San Andreas, the player can instantly destroy the pumps with a melee weapon or their bare hands. However, it is not recommended as the result might be fatal.
  • In GTA V and GTA Online, the Jerry Can can be found outside several filling stations.
