Art Deco is an early 20th-century style characterized by bold geometric forms that contrast with the floral patterns of the preceding Art Nouveau style. Art Deco is mainly defined by symmetry, rectilinear ornamentation, and expensive materials. In the US, it is commonly observed in high-rise buildings and skyscrapers built around the 1920s and 1930s.
