Alastair MacGregor is the vice president of audio at Rockstar North.
Career[]
MacGregor joined Rockstar in September 2004 as an audio programmer.
He was credited as an audio programmer on Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto IV, The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, and later as lead audio programmer on Grand Theft Auto V.
He has worked on all main Rockstar Games titles since joining the company, with the most recent being Red Dead Redemption 2, by which time he had advanced to the position of audio director.
In 2014, Alastair discussed the making and programming of sounds in Grand Theft Auto V during a GDC conference presentation, in which he talks about the background behind RAGE Audio and its timeline, and some of Rockstar's audio tools, including their audio hierarchy system (RAVE), granular audio generator and audio probe/bounding tools.[1]
