The Learner
A learner is someone who is learning about a particular subject or someone
who’s trying to gain knowledge or skill in something by studying, practicing, or
being taught. They are responsible for attending classes on time, submitting
assignments, activities, projects, and other stuff as a basis for their performance.
It’s important to develop lesson plans to help all the different types of
learners absorb information in a way that fits their individual needs. When teachers
understand the characteristics of different learning styles and associated instruction
strategies, they are better able to address the instructional requirements of all their
students.
Because every student learns differently, learning styles are widely
recognized in both classroom management theory and education theory in general.
“The term ‘learning styles’ speaks to the understanding that every student learns
differently. Technically, an individual’s learning style refers to the preferential way
in which the student absorbs, processes, comprehends and retains information,”
The first type of learner is Visual Learner. This type of learners mostly rely
on what they see rather than what they hear. This usually means that these learners
prefer to learn by reading not by listening, and would rather write things instead of
saying things aloud. They have greater chance of remembering things through
visual aids. They can easily process the information through the help of charts and
graphs. They mostly rely on images in order to understand the meaning of all
concepts and ideas. And they would very much like to have graphic elements over
words.
The second kind of learner is the Auditory. They have heavy reliance on
their hearing. This type of learners learn best when the information’s are being
spoken. They have a greater advantage in classrooms because of the lectures and
discussions. They can easily process the information through or by talking things
or saying things out loud. They can learn best when interacting with others in a
listening or speaking exchange. Also, some of the auditory learners easily
memorize things while listening to music.

Read or Write Learner is the third type. This is when an individual learner
absorbs most of the information through reading and writing the texts instead of
having visual aids like charts and graphs. Through writing all the words they can
easily learn and process all of the information. They would prefer to receive or
have written words just like some handouts. And they would really enjoy reading
and writing assignments or homework’s.
And the last type of learner is the Kinesthetic learner. This type of learner
can learn things with the help of their body most specially through their sense of
touch. They would prefer to create concrete personal experiences as this help them
to easily remember things. They learn best through tactile process like using body
to interpret information from the sense of touch. And they can easily process all of
the information by recreating and practicing.
