Neilblaze/README.md

Hi, I'm Pratyay 👋🏻

Welcome to my favourite place! I'm a passionate developer innovator & a recent grad, with a major in ECE & a minor in CS, striving to build SOTA solutions for challenging problems via intersecting Web & Machine Learning to create amazing stuff that brings positive change in human lives. I love tinkering with electronics, while I primarily work on applied Machine Learning (majorly Computer Vision), Backend (WebDev) & DevOps(Integrations, Microservices & Deployment). 🛠️

I'm deeply passionate about Web, OSS and tech in general. Moreover, I'm also into System Designing and Reverse Engineering. I define myself as an independent RSE as well as a competitive hackathon aficionado, with more than 50+ wins 🏆. Besides, I'm a Competitive Speedcuber, Netflix nerd & EDM fanatic. Whether that be through creating neural networks or building web applications, all my work is focused on one thing: impact 📈. When I'm not coding, you can find me sketching, doing CP, or playing soccer! The love for new skills and desire to create something which can directly influence people, keeps me interested. 🚀

NOTE
If you're reading this, do know that the struggle for excellence is hard but worth mentioning. I've struggled psychologically, and I had to sacrifice a lot of things in the same process, be it living or non-living, but it's the good memories that stayed with me and propelled me forward. Sometimes, I get lost in the mess, but then I prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Like a lot of people, I'm not sure what the future holds for me. Regardless of what I do, I'll do it to the best of my ability, in order to perform my duty to impart a net good onto the human race! 😃

  • [Dated: 05.06.23] → The LFX Mentorship 2023 program under Hyperledger Org announced mentees, but the selection process seemed extremely unprofessional. Received no interviews or feedback, and it appeared that diversity and networking played a bigger role than merit. This makes me hesitant to apply for future Hyperledger projects.
  • [Dated: 06.06.23] → I received an email from Maciej regarding my proposal (for this) for the AsyncAPI 2023 Mentorship program. While he appreciated my effort and dedication in crafting the proposal, I regret to share, that my application was rejected due to my current involvement in GSoC'23. They emphasized the importance of focusing on my current programs, allowing others to apply for the AsyncAPI Mentorship Program and grow their open-source skills.
  • [Dated: 11.06.23] → Had a chat with Alejandra (from AsyncAPI), & confirmed that I'm not eligible for AsyncAPI 2023 Technical Writer Mentorship Program for the same aforementioned reason. However, I am hopeful and determined to actively pursue opportunities for the GSoD'24 program if they become available and circumstances align favorably. Fingers crossed! 🤞
  • [Dated: 11.06.23] → I stumbled upon C4GT'23 on June 9th, and today I swiftly drafted and submitted a proposal (#ai-tools) for the program. I also assisted my friend in writing his proposal 😜. It has been an exhilarating journey so far, although the chances of acceptance are uncertain. Hence, remaining hopeful and keeping my fingers crossed. 🤞

However, they did suggest that I consider becoming a Mentor instead. Additionally, Chakshu Gautam reached out to me regarding the opportunity to mentor for DSEP, which I unfortunately had to postpone due to other commitments.

  • Secured a scholarship ticket to attend AI-DLDA, the International Summer School on Artificial Intelligence, scheduled from July 3rd to 7th, 2023, Udine (Virtual)
  • [Dated: 30.06.23] → Despite catching a cold, I decided to participate in MLH's #Web3Build Hackathon sponsored by NEAR Horizon. I teamed up with Niku, Pranav, and Kamal to create NearSocialBoost 🔥. Unfortunately, the results didn't turn out as expected, as we witnessed some diversity drama and saw pre-coded projects being selected under a rebranded guise. The lack of strict rules allowed one of the winning teams (among the Top-4) to exploit the T&Cs and engage in plagiarism.
  • Got selected for the 7th edition of CVIT Summer School Event on AI with Focus on Computer Vision and Machine Learning organized by IIIT Hyderabad, held from 18th July to 19th August, 2023. 🎉

  • [Dated: 17.07.23] → Originally, I applied to be a participant at HackMIT 2023. However, I was pleasantly surprised when they offered me a position as a Mentor instead & provided a generous travel grant. But after giving it some thought, I decided to offer my mentorship remotely, virtually. I'm super excited and thrilled to be able to assist other hackers in turning their ideas into reality. Let's launch those projects into the stratosphere! 🚀
  • [Dated: 18.07.23] → Scored an entry into the prestigious Data Science in India 2023 conference, organized by ACM SIGKDD India Chapter (IKDD) 🎉

  • [Dated: 04.11.23] → Participated in Headout's annual hackathon → Hackout 2023. I teamed up with Niku, Pranav, and Devesh & built NeoWay, a smart mobile app which acts as your Stress-Free Travel Companion for Budget-Friendly, Epic Solo Adventures 🔥. Unfortunately, the results didn't turn out as expected, as we witnessed mismanagement and unfairness in the judging process, revealing incompetent projects as the winners.
  • [Dated: 07.11.23] → Project Sakhi (সখী), led by a join collaboration of team AI4Good & WaterAid BD, received a developmental grant of €10,000 🚀
  • [Dated: 25.11.23] → Participated in the AI Symposium 2023 organized by the Society for Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning (SAiDL) at BITS Pilani, fostering connections, exposing students to AI trends in science, and providing insights for aspiring researchers and practitioners.
