Xbalanque is a mentioned character in Genshin Impact. He was the first Pyro Archon of Natlan.[2]
Profile[]
Like all of the Pyro Archons that came after, Xbalanque was originally a mortal man with no special power. At some point, he showed compassion to Och-Kan when the latter was imprisoned by the dragons.[3] He defeated the lord of the volcano and Pyro Sovereign, Xiuhcoatl, and was "revived from the flames."[4][5]
Xbalanque's party consisted of several historical figures such as Och-Kan, Yupanqui, Lianca, and the twin siblings Ahpub and Ixquieh.
After becoming Pyro Archon, Xbalanque bargained with Ronova, the Ruler of Death, to borrow her power in order to establish the rules that would aid Natlan's fight against the Abyss—the Ode of Resurrection and the Pilgrimage of the Return of the Sacred Flame. [6] He also set up the systems and rules that would allow future mortals to ascend to Pyro Archonhood.[7]
Xbalanque is quoted in Neuvillette's official introduction, saying, "Someday, when they return, their true ordeal shall begin."[8]
The Eternal Empire of Ochkanatlan was founded by Xbalanque's followers with Och-kan as its king. It would be abandoned however after the Scarlet-Eyed Hero and his party overthrew Och-kan, with the Hero becoming the second pyro archon in the process and destroying Ochkanatlan with his new-found power.[9]
