I used to work for Psion Dacom the modem company (remember them). When we manufactured PCMCIA cards, the IBM Thinkpad would actively discriminate against the Psion Dacom Gold card and disable it. Eventually, our developers worked out what IBM was doing and it took the intervention of the CEO to get the Gold Card working on the IBM Thinkpad. It had nothing to do with the fact that IBM was pushing their own (inferior) PCMCIA card :-)

Same thing happened in 2009. 5000 including Windows mobile workers made redundant. Will they never learn

Microsoft should make Windows Phone 8 free

When I worked for Microsoft during the development of WP7 and WP8 I proposed that they should make the OS free and make their money from advertising and apps. My US colleagues just laughed and told me that their OS was so superior to Android and iOS that all the handset vendors would be beating a path to their door. Arrogance indeed.
