So the US thought that restricting hardware to China would leave them in some sort of digital dark ages? Only China's response is to get going with some slightly less powerful hardware and instead rethink how the things are used.
How long until it's America playing catch-up because there's only so much brute force and only so many watts.
Note that I don't have any opinions on either side, I'd rather the AI bubble burst sooner rather than later and we can try to be reducing energy consumption rather than pouring gigawatts into pretty pictures, but I don't see this happening any time soon. So instead I'll just sit back with a pile of Hobnobs and watch what happens.
