Yes I said snow. I had to take the car into the garage for its Service and MOT and boy did I have fun trying to find a needle in a haystack spot to abandon my car while I dropped Marion at the school gate.
I then went into town, handed the keys to Jim, gave him my parents phone number (it’s Mum’s car after all) in case any work needed to be done on it (because I would be at swimming), got myself a drink and then walked back to school. It was very windy, but at that point in time it was relatively dry. When I got to about 200 yards away from the school it started raining, but I didn’t get too wet, but no sooner was in the classroom – all this and I was sitting down at 9.20am – the heavens opened.
We got a bit wet going to the bus, then obviously swimming, it was still raining when we came back out and then it started to sleet and snow. After getting off the bus to come home, the main road was like a fast flowing river, the pavements were full of puddles and I had soaking wet jeans and feet.
Apparently, according to weather reports, we have been threatened with heavy snowfalls this week and next.
So as soon as I got in I stripped off in the hall and put my tracksuit trousers on to warm myself up and I called Mum to see if the garage had called. The car needs a couple of areas welded, which they can do, but might take them a couple of days. Hopefully I’ll get it back before next Tuesday so I can go to my ceramics class to get going on Mum’s birthday present.
I saw on the news that a school had sent a 15 year old girl about her truancy and to get herself back to regular attendance or she’d be banned from the school prom. The thing is that this young girl died all of a sudden two months. Her parents were naturally very upset and all the school could comment was ‘it was a database error’.
Having been on the receiving end of ‘database error’ from school with my own daughter, I can say that it was human error and the fact that the human concerned (office staff) hadn’t bothered to update the system.
The garage called just after 3pm to say that there was a bit of extra welding that needed to be done, did we want to go ahead with it, but there would be a small delay as he wouldn’t be able to get it done until tomorrow afternoon. I said yes to go ahead and if I could have the car back before Tuesday, I’d be ever so grateful, but just to do the welding when he could fit it in.
I need the car for my daughter’s busy social life!!!
Does anyone know what ‘brown’ is in French please TIA
Thank you to Heather and Ann for their help with the french word for brown. I thought it was brun from my minimal knowledge of french at school. I was checking because I hadn’t wanted to say anything in front of the class yesterday when the French Dialect Disc they were learning from said that marron was brown. I thought that marron was marroon?
