"Truckers" is the third episode in the seventh season of the NBC family sitcom Family Ties. It originally aired on November 13, 1988, and is the hundred-and-fifty-third episode of the series overall.
Synopsis[]
Alex is keen on preventing the growing friendship between Andy and Nick's eight-year-old nephew from escalating further.
Plot[]
It's the morning after the 1988 election, and Alex is (surprisingly) not rubbing in the results with the family. Steven is upset at the size of the electric bill and tries to reduce costs around the house. Andy finds a new friend in Nick's nephew Rocco (played by Kaylan Romero). Alex feels left out when Andy doesn't have as much time for him as he used to.

Trivia[]
- Because this episode aired so soon after the 1988 election (held on 11/8/88), it is feasible that the intro before the opening credits was filmed after the election (later than the rest of the episode).
- In this episode, Alex is ready to watch Wall Street Week and Andy's not there. The reverse happens in "The Other Woman ".
- Steven reveals that Alex was called "Moonbeam" as a young child.
- "Hail to the Chief"
- "This Land is Your Land " by Woody Guthrie
