Survivor 47 star Sierra won't eat hermit crabs in exclusive deleted scene

And it's for the most adorable reason.

Last week we brought you an amazing exclusive deleted scene from Survivor 47 that saw Tuku tribe member Kyle Ostwald suffering through regret after eating meat for the first time in eight years. This week the eating struggles continue, but with another player from another tribe.

This week's exclusive deleted scene, which can be watched above, takes place on day 6 over at the Gata tribe, where the gang is trying out a different protein source. "You need food out here," Anika Dhar explains in a confessional interview. "We're all starving. No one likes the taste of coconuts on my tribe, so we're like, 'Okay, something different. Something a little protein, like let's change it up.'"

And how exactly did they change it up? "We cooked the hermit crabs by boiling them in water," Anika explains. "It was as simple as that."

And, like any good cooking show that just happens to take place on the sandy shores of Fiji, we are also treated to some footage of the process. "They're probably almost done," chef Sam Phalen observes while watching the dish being cooked. "That level of heat, I feel like these things are done. Oh yeah, those are boiling. Those are going to be good. They're done. They're pink."

And good they are, according to this completely unbiased review by Gata food critic Anika: "I take one out, I gave it a little test, and for the most part it tastes like crab. It's not bad."

Sounds like a Michelin-starred establishment to us! Of course, one must always take account of the conditions, which can lead to some… how shall we put this… extra crunchiness. "Some of them have shells," assistant chef Rachael LaMont says of the crabs. "Yeah, a lot of them didn't fall out of their shells this time."

Yum! But there is one Gata tribe member who decides not to partake in the feast at all. "Truthfully, hermit crabs are not my thing," says the abstaining Sierra Wright, who is absolutely, definitely, not at all in a showmance with Sam. "And I'm trying to play it cool."

And why exactly is Sierra not eating alongside the others? "I had hermit crabs as little animals growing up," she recalls. "And to me, I can't do that. That's not my thing. So I just let them have the hermit crabs. We made some popcorn out of coconut. I'm not eating hermit crabs, so clearly I'm not that starved. But I'll eat anything else."

Here's hoping Sierra did not also have any pet Applebee's growing up in Delaware. In the meantime, enjoy the exclusive deleted scene for yourself above.
