TV Kathy Griffin wants to be the next Golden Bachelorette, and ABC might hear her out Her pitch is... very Kathy Griffin. By Kristen Baldwin Kristen Baldwin Kristen Baldwin is the TV critic for EW EW's editorial guidelines Published on November 27, 2024 10:00AM EST Comments Comedian Kathy Griffin is single and ready to mingle — on TV. In a recent interview on the Politickin' podcast, the 64-year-old comedian and reality TV mainstay announced that she's ready to anchor ABC's senior dating franchise. "I think I should be the next Golden Bachelorette," Griffin told hosts Gavin Newsom, Marshawn Lynch, and Doug Hendrickson. Naturally, the My Life on the D-List star already has a plan to differentiate herself from original Golden girl Joan Vassos. "Here's my pitch... The first episode where there's the most bachelors and the most roses, I f--- each one. Each one. Then I decide!" She went on to promise "no hidden cameras, just a little blurring here and there for the cellulite. Boom! Ratings gold." Kathy Griffin. Amy Sussman/Getty Golden Bachelorette's Joan and Chock on avoiding haters: 'People can be very unkind' While ABC's Golden Bachelor and Golden Bachelorette have yet to venture into celebrity casting territory — despite past claims from Susan Lucci and Kathie Lee Gifford — the network apparently isn't ruling the idea out completely. An ABC insider tells Entertainment Weekly that the network would be open to meeting with Griffin about the Golden gig. As very few of you may remember, the comedian appeared on another ABC reality show, Celebrity Mole: Hawaii, in 2003. (EW has reached out to Griffin's representative for comment.) Of course, the twice-divorced Griffin would also presumably have to compete for the role of Golden Bachelorette with the yet-to-be-cast women of The Golden Bachelor season 2. (Though ABC has not yet announced a second season of either show, the network continues to run promos seeking single seniors as potential contestants for future installments.)
