Glyph origin
[edit]Phono-semantic compound (形聲/形声, OC *ʔsun) : semantic 辵 (“walk”) + phonetic 尊 (OC *ʔsuːn). However, the phonetic component (offering a vessel of wine) conveys the concept of veneration and showing respect, which is linked to "follow; obey".
