some historians think "jurcova" refers to Giurgiu. if it was already part of moldavia, why did Stephen had to take it from wallachia? my sources say mircea's possessions extended to the hills north of the river.Anonimu 06:42, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dobrotitsa

[edit]

Greetings! I just wanted to tell you that despite his ethnic origin, Dobrotitsa was part of the Bulgarian nobility. There is an argument whether he is a Bulgarian or Cuman or Vlach or whatever, but in all cases he is a Bulgarian noble; follow the discussion. I will remove the tag citation needed from there. Take an example of Asen and Petar: they are very likely to had been of Cuman origin, but they are not Cuman nobles or Cuman Emperors, they are Bulgarian ones, so you know what I mean. Regards, --Gligan 09:13, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Bulgarian Emperors titled themselves "Emperor of the Bulgarians and Romans", does it mean that the the country is Bulgarian-Roman Empire?! All titles of the sort emperor, king , prince of Bulgarians (for instance) and vlachs, greeks, serbs, chinese aim to glorify the ruler. From 1202 the Hungarian king took the title King of the Bulgarians, but that does not mean that he is a Bulgarian.
It is obvious that Ivan Asen II, Petar IV and Kaloyan have restored the the Bulgarian Empire, not created a new Bulgarian-Vlach state. --Gligan 17:20, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So I will find sources and add the Bulgarian names of Vladislav I of Wallahia, Dan I of Walachia because they were de jure vassals of the Bulgarian Emperor => related to Bulgarian history. --Gligan 19:07, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About the ethnic character of the Second Bulgarian Empire

[edit]

Dear Romanian passionate patriot, not every Vlach is Romanian. For example in contemporary Bulgaria there are 10,566 Vlachs and only 1,088 Romanians - as separate ethnic groups. These two groups freely declare their different nationality during the last census in 2001, check here. Romanian nation is modern construct, based on only one part of the Balkan Vlachs. There were Vlach communities, which didn't participate in the modern Romanian nation building. So, it is a nationalistic speculation to insist on Romanian identity of one medieval ruler on the basis of theories with disputed validity. Sorry, but Romanian insufficiency of state history could not be healed with hyperinterpretations like these about the Second Vlach/Bulgarian Empire. Try to understand - all native documents show only Bulgarian identity. The native sources have priority in every relevant history. Still more, the meaning and the adequacy of the term "Vlach" in this particular case, used in the smaller part of the historical sources from this time for period of only two decades (1186-2007), are rejected by significant stream among the academic tradition. Check one important result of this scientific situation - Encyclopedia Britannica, in which Asen I, Kaloyan and Ivan Asen II are treated as Bulgarian Tsars only. Kaloyan's state wasn't Romanian, it wasn't dominated by the Wallachian idea, territory or population too. Moesia, Thrace, Macedonia and large parts of what is now Eastern Serbia against undefined part of Wallachia? This state was dominated by the Bulgarian name, concept, tradition, official language, lands and inhabitants. And, finally, if Kaloyan had Vlach origin, which isn't very likely, he has to be treated as Bulgarian of Vlach origin, but not as ethnic Vlach. Best wishes, Jackanapes 22:08, 2 July 2007 (UTC) P. s. About your accusation in censorship. Dear, I don't want to erase any relevant sourced historical or scientific information. I have erased only your attempts to include the name of Kaloyan in Romanian language, which is irrelevant because this is English language Wikipedia and we are talking about one article for Bulgarian medieval Tsar. When the Second Bulgarian Empire will emerge as the earliest medieval Romanian state in Wikipedia, I will agree with such addition. Ok? - Jackanapes 22:45, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is really funny. You have provided source for modern Romanian language pronunciation and spelling of the Kaloyan's name because there isn't any medieval Vlach language document containing his name. Quite irrational situation. Moreover, the preserved Wallachian documents, which emerged long time after Kaloyan's death, used predominantly Medieval Slavic (or Old Bulgarian) language for centuries... - Jackanapes 23:19, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hehehe, you have confessed your sin! You have offered the name from the modern Romanian historiography and nothing more. This name is very popular among Bulgarians too, it was documented among the ordinary people in XVII century and even had several female variants, but its usage in folklore can't be connected only directly with the real historical figure of Tsar Kaloyan and explained only with him, I suppose. It would be speculation. I really don't understand why are you so stubborn with this name? Here in Wikipedia there isn't practice to offer pronunciation and spelling in non-English foreign languages when there isn't relevant basis. Look, I don't feel anything negative against the Romanians, on the contrary, but this partucular artificial "Romanization" is anachronistic and seems as nationalistic claim... Please, try to reconsider your position, my friend! - Jackanapes 23:44, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What kind of tradition had given this form of the name? When exactly this name was documented/written in Vlach/Romanian language? If this isn't medieval tradition, it could not be relevant source in connection with the Tsar Kaloyan. Try to reconsider your thinking. - Jackanapes 00:24, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

P. s. If these folklore examples were recorded and published recently during (or even after) the Enlightenment era (as it is with almost all Balkan folklore collections), we could suppose that these folklore materials have medieval origin, but nevertheless they are documented much later and as principle show the latest phase of their development, so they could not be accepted as primary sources in researches of the proper medieval culture. Example for similar scientific situation. There are Bulgarian epic songs about "tsar Yasen (Asen)", but they aren't quoted in any Wikipedia article, connected with Asens, because they were documented in 19 and 20 centuries. The Historians don't treat these songs as primary sources for the epoch of the Asens, 12-15 centuries (even in etymological aspect!). I hope you will accept this.- Jackanapes 00:57, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You insist to include in the article about medieval tsar Kaloyan form of the name, beared by this ruler, from oral tradition, recorded in 18-20 centuries, but Kaloyan died in 13 century! This is anachronism. Moreover, these folklore materials most probably contain that name but haven't direct connection with the historical figure of tsar Kaloyan, therefore they are irrelevant. Enough nationalistic speculations! - Jackanapes 10:06, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:PhoenixBabaNovak.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:PhoenixBabaNovak.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Romanian Royal standard

[edit]

Unfortunately it is not like that. I will scan all the flags of Romania that are presented in that dictionary, but I can't do that very soon. As a verbal description, the cross of "Mihai Viteazul" Order is big, on the whole area of the flag, and the eagle is smaller, in the center of the cross. As I said, I will scan the flags as soon as I can take the dictionary to a scanner. The worst case scenario is a photo. ES Vic (talk) 06:04, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Romanian Royal standard

[edit]

File:C6.jpg

Until I get my hands on the dictionary (which I hope is from 1923 and not 1932), I found some interesting pictures in my "personal archive" (so to speak). The first two are taken in the National Military Museum "Ferdinand I", and represent the flags of the King and of the Crown Prince. They are almost of no value for our quest, except to confirm (if necesary) that we Romanian: nu umblăm după cai verzi pe pereţi. Still, you can notice that the blue of the Crown Prince's flag is darker than the one you used. The last two where taken during the reburrial ceremony of Carol II. As the flag of the King covers the caughin, it is larger than the first one (used to hoist on buildings and/or on ships). I don't comment on the color shades (althow essentialy different from the first picture), nor the quality of the drawing (we had earlier a dispute on this matter: tha trawing is correct, not necesary beautifull). I will point to you the presence of the collar (sash) of the order of "Carol I". Now I can only point out that on the first picture (of the flag that was in actual use!), and in numerous other references, the King's standard does not have the sash (collar) of the Order of "Carol I". Also I doubt that the Army's Historical Service (Romanian: Serviciul Istoric al Armatei) could made such a mistake. I think we arrived in a dead point.

About the model that you proposed (based on the dictionary description) I wave the following comment: allthough I don't argue the description, I doubt that the difference between the King's Standard and the Queen's Standard was so little, and so difficult to spot! I think that we both know that, in Romania, the Queen was nothing more than the consort of the chief of the state (the King). So I assume that the eagle was equal in size with the cross of the order, and so placed in the middle of the standard; allthough this does not fit the description...

ES Vic (talk) 17:41, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PS: please forgive the spelling. Feel free to continue in Romanian, if you don't mind!

Candrea - Gh. Adamescu, aparut la editura Cartea Românească. Sper sa fie de folos! --ES Vic (talk) 08:30, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Map

[edit]

Greeting! Oltenia or Severin Banat was Bulgarian until 1263 - there was a war between Bulgaria and Hungary in which the Hungarians took it from Bulgaria. Would you return the borders as they were? --Gligan (talk) 22:22, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm here is a description of the war: "In the north-western border the Magyars continued with their invasions - in 1259 the Magyar heir to the throne Stefan advanced deep into Bulgarian territory. In the same year Konstantine Asen counter-attacked and his conquered Severing Banat. The Magyar King tried in futile to assemble his baron to fight back the Bulgarians. The status was restored by magister Laurentius; the winner hanged the captured Bulgarians along the Danube and advanced to the east..."
The borders of my map are from Atlas of History for 8th grade, approved by MoE (Ministry of education) with letter No. 6724/09.05.2000 and confirmed with letter No. 13528 from 19.04.2001. So I think it would be better to restore that border and add that Atlas as a source - I haven't drew that map from my imagination... --Gligan (talk) 12:09, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Probably you are right :-) But still, that is an officially accepted map - the specialists in our ministry can't be unaware of the facts you stated. I would suggest to colour that territory with green and blue lines and write below (if you find place) lost to Hungary in 1261. Unfortunately I don't know how to use Photoshop very well and to make such lines so I would ask you to do the job. Best, --Gligan (talk) 13:46, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Drapelul Jandarmeriei

[edit]

Daca stiti cum, ati putea va rog sa faceti si sa aranjati subsectiuni in T:Moldova t, asa cum ati facut in T:Moldovan t. Eu pot ajuta la organizarea continututui, dar sunt o persoana care nu are simtul graficii in sange, asa ca as prefera ca chestiile stilistice (inclusiv alegerea culorilor, fonturilor, imaginilor) sa le faca cineva cu mai multa tragere de inima. Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:Atacul de noapt1 film 2.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Atacul de noapt1 film 2.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. –Black Falcon (Talk) 07:15, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Beautified Romanian Coat of Arms

[edit]

I saw a lot of coat of arms, especially historic and old ones that were beautified by adding a transparency effect.
I tried this on the Romanian Coat of Arms and because I didn't want to alter the current Coat of Arms file I created a new file based on it.
Do you think that we should alter the original Coat of Arms by adding the transparency effect?

Please tell me what do you think.
I also beautified other coat of arms (for this ones I changed the original file by uploading a new version)

Thanks!

Anonimu (talk) 17:45, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:MargaretDumont.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:MargaretDumont.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Banatul de Severin

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Ținutul Crișuri. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. signed, Rosguill talk 14:10, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
