Invitations & Correspondence
The Fundamentals of Notes, Letters and Invitations
It may not always be clear how to address a person. Are they a âMrs.â or a âMiss?â Do you say âMr.â or âSir?â Both on letters and in person, these titles can in fact make a difference in how a person is received. Although there can be many potential options, addressing someone by the name or title that he or she prefers is one of the most basic ways to show your respect. For more on proper address, from Mrs. to Mx., browse our resources.
An invitation is the first impression of an event to come, and different types of events call for different timing, wording, or methods of inviting. Announcements also have their own criteria: Happy events may call for bells and whistles; serious or somber events may require a more discreet delivery of the news. Regardless, it is important to keep in mind how the information may be received by those you are inviting or informing.
