About Me
Hello! I’m Eli, he/him, eli_oat most places online. This is my website. You’ll find a hodgepodge of all kinds of stuff here ranging from rambling updates, to slightly more technical posts about programming things. I tend to keep the vibe casual, sorta like old school livejournal but hopefully with fewer embarrassing confessions and song lyrics.
I live and work in Maine with my family that includes some kids, two cats, a dog, and a really rather lovely partner. I enjoy biking, cooking, reading (a lot), video games, computer programming (especially with languages like lisp, and forth), and wandering around outside.
The boring stuff
For work these days I do “civic tech” where I focus on accessibility and QA as a “product person.” I’ve got a diverse professional background; I’ve worked as an iOS, Android, back-end, and front-end developer, and have extensive experience working closely with clients to understand their needs, and rendering those needs as detailed spec. documents to then implement. I’ve helped to bootstrap accessibility and QA practices, as well as having both designed and built platforms for organizations ranging from the teeny to gigantic. I’ve had job titles like QA Lead, Accessibility Specialist, Technical Writer, Product Designer, and Product Manager…one of these days maybe I’ll figure out what hat I like most.
