Trey is the former main antagonist of the 2022 Disney+ original film Sneakerella. He is the stepfather of El who works at his shoe store living with his stepbrothers Zelly and Stacy at New York.
Background[]
Personality[]
Trey is shown to have a very strict personality to his stepson El Morales, often shown telling him to do his chores at Laces with no distractions at work. He also shows firmness with his stepson simply often treating him as a servant in his own store, threatening him to have the store Laces be repossessed and sold to Foot Locker, although he is shown to be a loving man who lived with his wife Rosie before she passed away in spite of his temper. He is also shown to have a dislike when El is not present at work on days where he is supposed to work. However, when he arrived at Sneakercon, he began to reconcile with his stepson where he accepts his stepson's apology being sincere, despite the bad reputation he had throughout his life and that it was revealed he never showed the sneakers he made to him, making him an understanding father about his stepson's sincere apology.
Role in the film[]
Trey is first seen approaching El in the Laces shoe store where he prompts him to get to work by tasking him to do the things he is supposed to do, telling him that he has an important meeting with a customer who wants the place clean by 7:00, telling him to not to be distracted just before leaving with his sons Zelly and Stacy. However, after El returns from his first encounter with Kira, Trey is furious of him for not being present at work, feeling embarrassed about this just before telling him that he will take shifts next week and clean up the mess in his shoe store, telling his stepson that he has important people coming ti the store tomorrow, grounding him. In a flashback, Trey is seen escorting his wife Rosie on a taxi while Gustavo closes the back door of the cab.
The next day, Trey asks his stepson to get to work during a private conversation with Sami at the stockroom just before El meets his stepfather who is talking with Mrs. Singh who is critiquing on a shoe she purchased just before she leaves. Trey feels disappointed, thinking the neighborhood is a happy family, telling his stepson that new brought all kinds of styles and new items, telling him that the shop is being repossessed and be property of Foot Locker. As El plans for a fundraiser, Trey refuses, telling him that not everything works out his way just before getting into an argument with his stepfather, who tells him that his late mother wouldn't want him to sell, as well as telling him to let his dreams go.
The following day when Zelly and Stacy are leaving off, Trey approaches them where they found out about El's presence at Sneakercon just before Trey's sons leave. Trying to ask Sami to know where his stepson is, she convinces Trey that his stepson is talented, despite his best efforts, telling him to show who El really is. Trey later arrives at Sneakercon and approaches El, looking at one of his sneakers, as he asks him of why he never showed his sneakers at first. El replies that he should have never lied and about the challenges he had, and then apologizes for his bad reputation over his life. Trey, however, accepts his stepson's apology, telling him that he could have become a better stepfather, giving him a second chance just before El and his stepfather reconcile.
