Singh is an Indian woman who is the owner of El's favorite Indian restaurant. She would serve her customers her most famous food, mulligatawny, to people who dine at her restaurant and order mulligatawny. She is shown to have a like to customers who taste her food, showing that she likes satisfied customers who enjoy the food she serves to them. Next to Singh's restaurant is a restaurant that serves Greek food run by Aleko.
In addition to being the owner of a restaurant, Singh would occasionally appear in situations outside her restaurant such as serving as one of the customers of Laces or taking out the trash independently, which she considers it to be her exercise.
Role in the film[]
Mrs. Singh was first seen during the musical number "Best Ever" where El and Kira visit her restaurant and enjoy her mulligatawny, which they became satisfied of tasting her food. The next day, Singh is seen talking to El's stepfather Trey who is commenting on the footwear she is about to buy, but cannot afford it. Just as El approaches her, he shows Singh the window display of the shoes as she feels overjoyed of seeing the display just before she leaves.
During the climax of the film where Laces is going out of business, El approaches Mrs. Singh, telling her that she does the trash every Wednesday night, which she replies to him that she is getting used to doing it herself, as she became aware of El starting new job with his store going out of business. While she does not appear again afterwards, El's stepbrothers Zelly and Stacy watch the news about El's presence at Sneakercon upon looking at a television screen at Mrs. Singh's restaurant.
