Dory's Reef was a mobile game inspired by the Disney/Pixar Finding Nemo franchise. It was a match-three game that involved the player matching in a format similar to Candy Crush Saga, Cookie Jam Blast, or other similar game titles.
The game was released to soon promote the theatrical release of the 2016 sequel Finding Dory. Although it was reported to have a summer release in North America, the game was not fully released in North America and ended up being released exclusively in Australia for unknown reasons[1][2]. The game was removed from the App Store on March 11, 2018.
Gameplay[]
Throughout the game, the player must add decorations to the ocean floor to build a reef for Dory and her friends. To build a reef, the player must complete missions to build a reef such as playing match-3 levels to earn currencies required to purchase decorations for the reef. The more the player makes better matches throughout gameplay, the more the power-ups they will make throughout the game. Obstacles would occasionally appear during match-3 levels, making gameplay a bit more difficult. Players were also able to complete missions by placing specific amount of ambience on the reef as well as using gameplay elements during match-3 levels
Once the player continues building their reef and completing more levels, the player advances in attracting more characters into their reef such as Marlin, Nemo, or many other characters from the franchise. The more the player advances, further missions would appear becoming a little more difficult to complete, alongside difficult levels with various types of elements found in further levels.
Trivia[]
- Despite the name's similarity to Nemo's Reef, another mobile game inspired by Finding Nemo, the games are not very similar.
