They’re far from just school cafeteria fare anymore tater tots have graduated. The golden potato mounds are now snacks, side dishes or even full-on entrees on menus all over D.C. area restaurants.

These are some of the most adored tots around — from the nacho variety known as totchos to restaurant-made versions to the good, old-fashioned fried kind.

Sure, GCDC specializes in gooey, high-end grilled cheese sandwiches. But tots also occupy a prominent place on its menu. The tot lunch entrees include chili tots as well as loaded tots featuring cheddar sauce, bacon, pico de gallo and special sauce which transforms them into totchos.
