For D.C. drivers, Springfield, Va. is considered a chaotic mess of traffic. Between its famed mixing bowl and rush hour commutes, heading to the Northern Virginia suburb requires at least 30 minutes on the road or a trip to the end of Metro’s blue line.

Despite its congestion woes, Springfield has emerged as a destination for discerning diners craving a wide range of cuisines — from down-home diner fare to global eats nestled inside strip malls and shopping centers.

The featured bars are not ranked. They are arranged geographically from north to south.
