Where to Find Fine Frozen Cocktails Around D.C.

Piña coladas, frosé all day, and other icy drinks to beat the late summer heat

D.C.’s sweltering temperatures aren’t budging anytime soon, which makes frozen cocktails the perfect way to cool off into the fall. Slushee spins on classics like the daiquiri, margarita, and piña colada can be found at many tiki-themed bars. But neighborhood bars, sports pubs, rooftop hideaways, and even an Airstream trailer parked outside Union Market are also in on the chill cocktail craze.

Restaurants are also expanding their frozen cocktail game with reimagined options, like boozy popsicles and root beer floats. Sherry, pisco, and green tea add creative flavors to the mix. Just be careful of how fast the drink goes down, or risk the ultimate pain of brain freeze.

Health experts consider dining out to be a high-risk activity for the unvaccinated; the latest data about the delta variant indicates that it may pose a low-to-moderate risk for the vaccinated, especially in areas with substantial transmission. The latest CDC guidance is here; find a COVID-19 vaccination site here.
