Co Co. Sala, the combination gourmet chocolate shop and cacao-obsessed restaurant that debuted a decade ago in Penn Quarter, is closing Saturday, February 24.

“It is with great sadness, yet tremendous gratitude that we are announcing Co Co. Sala will be closing on February 24, 2018,” co-owner Nisha Sidhu announced February 17 on social media. “Please join us over the next week at Co Co. Sala for a bittersweet celebration of our journey ending.”

The RAMMY Award-winning restaurant (929 F Street NW), which is overseen by executive pastry chef and Food Network alum Santosh Tiptur, has catered to sweets lovers with 3-course and 5-course dessert tasting menus, specialty cocktails laced with chocolate, and indulgent brunch offerings ranging from ricotta pancakes with white chocolate cream and French toast s’mores to chocolate-rum cupcakes. The niche eatery got a shot in the arm in late 2011 when then-first lady Michelle Obama stopped in for dinner.

Tiptur opened the Conche, a larger more family friendly restaurant — complete with a see-through “chocolate lab,” full bar, and plush dining room — last spring in Leesburg, Virginia.
