Top Chef Vet Marjorie Meek-Bradley Designs Meaty Snacks for Rosslyn Beer Garden

The Smoked & Stacked founder has brats and half-smokes in mind

Top Chef alum and Smoked & Stacked founder Marjorie Meek-Bradley is crafting a sausage-heavy menu (think: pigs in a blanket, brats with sauerkraut) for the 180-seat indoor/outdoor beer garden Continental Modern Pool Lounge has installed on the site of a former park in Rosslyn.

Continental owner Curt Large and Meek-Bradley go way back; Large was a silent partner at Roofers Union and Ripple, two of her now-former projects in D.C. Large is a prolific but quiet restaurateur; he owns 13 establishments between the D.C. area and Philadelphia.

Meek-Bradley’s vision for Large’s latest endeavor, which does not yet have an official opening date, includes feeding guests tangy beer cheese with crackers, kale and artichoke dip flanked by fresh vegetables, a classic D.C. half-smoke with grilled onions and cheese on a pretzel roll, grilled cheese, pulled pork, and skewered meats served over basil quinoa salad.

The forthcoming beer garden, which will take up residence just steps from the busy Rosslyn Metro station, has been in development since last summer (but on Large’s mind since 2013). With the help of the Rosslyn Business Improvement District and landlord JBG, Large and his team converted an old service station at 1901 N. Fort Myer Drive into the prospective happy hour haven.

The beer garden has been long time coming; here’s a pop-up on the site in 2015.

The outdoor component, strung with lights and surrounded by flower boxes, will include two bocce courts, picnic tables, lounge chairs and patio sofas, a mural by artist Jason Woodside, and a long communal high top to squeeze in 150 drinkers. The reconditioned garage doors open to an indoor bar and kitchen with seating for 30.

Choose from Virginia and German brews served by the pint or the pitcher, as well as select wines and a boozy slushy machine.

The beer garden, which Large now expects to unveil in June, is projected to operate from 3 p.m to 11 p.m. every day except Mondays.
