In 2016, LA’s Iota Brew Cafe announced plans to export the popular all-day Asian fusion eatery from its OG home in the Koreatown district to Texas. Three years later, it’s finally happening, reports CultureMap Dallas.
Iota’s new Carrollton home at (1060 W. Frankford Road) is targeting a late September opening. Even though DFW’s original Koreatown is in Dallas proper, the Korean dining scene in Carrollton has exploded with loads of diverse eating options in recent years. Exciting new arrivals include Korean-style hot dogs at Myungrang Hot Dog and tteokbokki, a Korean dish of rice cakes in a spicy sauce, at Yupdduk.
Over Iota’s long run in LA, the Korean cafe garnered a cult following for its loaded brick-shaped toasts, pizzas, shaved ice, thinly layered crêpes, and rice bowls (see a sampling of its hit LA offerings here.)
For Iota 2.0, patrons can also expect Ethiopian coffees, green tea lattes, ice cream sandwiches made with macarons, and soft serve sprinkled with Fruit Loops, reports CultureMap. The “Honey Brick Toast” unites toasted brick-shape bread with whipped cream and fruit.
For sandwiches, an array of fillings — think eggs, fried chicken, and pork — are housed between thick-cut slices of toasted bread.
