Just about two years after opening its doors in Carrollton, Monkey King Noodle Company has shuttered its first-ever suburban outpost.
Owner Andrew Chen announced the noodle joint’s departure in an Instagram post yesterday, saying that the location just wasn’t sustainable. “We love and appreciate all of our wonderful customers who came and enjoyed our food while we were here,” the post reads. in part. “As much as we wanted this location to work for us, market forces just were not on our side.”
It’s a real bummer for the continuing growth of Downtown Carrollton’s dining scene, which is also home to DFW stalwarts like Cane Rosso and Babe’s Chicken Dinner House. Fortunately, diners will still be able to get their hands on those juicy soup dumplings and hand-pulled noodles at Monkey King’s location in Deep Ellum, and the recently-opened outpost at Plano’s Legacy Hall. No word yet on what will become of the restaurant’s former (and adorable) Carrollton location.
