Collaboration is key to the success of IT at the University of Iowa. The CIO engages with university and IT governance teams to coordinate and communicate technology initiatives.

At the campus level, the CIO serves on the University of Iowa Strategy Team to ensure that technology needs of strategic initiatives are met. The UI Information Technology Advisory Committee provides input on technology activities.

Within the OneIT governance process are seven IT councils that engage with campus partners and the broader IT community to plan and execute IT projects. The OneIT Operations Team coordinates activities across the councils.

The UI is active in regional and national technology organizations, including Unizin, the Big Ten Academic Alliance, EDUCAUSE, the Northern Tier Network, the BOREAS Network, and the Common Solutions Group.

In addition, more than a dozen communities of practice foster cooperation and learning among the many IT groups on campus.
