Restaurateurs Erik Hutson and Nayda Freire are ready to unveil their pizzeria/wine bar Renzo. The 384 Huger St. establishment is down the block from the couple’s first project The Faculty Lounge. Huston and Freire announced the project in 2015, and have done much of the renovation work on their own.
Chef Evan Gaudreau will put out neo-Neopolitan and Detroit-style pizzas, plus snacks, salads, and more. Check out the Renzo Instagram page for samples of his work.
There isn’t a set opening date yet, but the crew has its first pizza party in the space on Friday, March 2, for a select number of ticket holders. In true Freire fashion, the invitation to the event is pretty hilarious:
What better way to celebrate our opening than with a pizza party? No stuffy mock service, no comment cards, no micro-managers table-touching, just lots of pizza, fun bar snacks, and loud music. Get an exclusive first look at the space, sample highlights from our opening menu, and see what the hell took so long. Food + souvenir key tag included with ticket purchase. Wine + beer sold separately at the bar.
For those who don’t make it to the party, here’s a look around the dining room with photographer Leslie Ryann McKellar.
