Can’t James Island get a break? All the residents want is a decent restaurant to stop at around dinner time. Places keep popping up and then closing however. Stereo 8 was the latest casualty, and a while back it was Big Belly Kitchen & Tap House. The latter address at 1014 Fort Johnson Rd. will soon be transformed into something new however.

Reports of a restaurant called Edison started flooding the Eater inbox recently, and now there’s finally more information on the forthcoming eatery. The website, still a bit in template mode, states “Coming Soon” with a preview of the lunch, brunch, dinner, and kids menus. The offerings have a wide range from Filipino shrimp to Tokyo shrimp cakes to Italian paninis to pho rolls to sausage pops. The chef is listed as Joel M. Lucas, who recently headed the kitchen at Meeting Street restaurant Eli’s Table.

Keeps eyes peeled for more information on the forthcoming Fort Johnson Road addition.
