Journal of the European Mosquito Control Association
Aims and scope
The Journal of the European Mosquito Control Association (JEMCA; formerly European Mosquito Bulletin, 1998-2012), has been established since 1998 and is intended to provide a forum for information on vector and pest arthropods of public and animal health importance. Beside mosquitoes these comprise also blackflies, phlebotomine sand flies, Culicoides biting midges, other biting flies, and ticks. Articles to be considered for publication may address these vectors and pest species for Europe and its associate territories, but also for any other region. They may deal with, but are not restricted to, aspects of control methods and tools, identification and taxonomy, distribution, ecology and field studies, reports on surveillance and monitoring, as well as applied research on biology and pathogen transmission.
JEMCA is an Open Access, peer-reviewed, online journal published by Wageningen Academic Publishers from 2021 onwards and overseen by the European Mosquito Control Association. JEMCA follows the COPE (Committee Of Publishing Ethics) Core Practices.

Refereeing of papers is conducted anonymously and the identity of the referees is not disclosed.Submission of a manuscript implies that the work described has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture or thesis), that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. The publication must be approved by all authors and tacitly by the institute where the work was carried out.
The Journal of the European Mosquito Control Association (JEMCA) is an open access journal. Upon submitting an article, authors have to confirm that they are willing to pay the publication fee (also referred to as “Article Processing Charges” or APCs). The current APC for JEMCA is 800 euro (ex. VAT). There are no additional charges based on colour, length, figures, etc.
In case the first or last author of an article is a member of the Association for one (1) or two (2) years, the Association will contribute with two hundred (200) euro per article, which will be deducted from the invoice to the authors. In case the first or last author of an article is a member of the Association for more than two (2) years, the Association will contribute with four hundred (400) euro per article, which will be deducted from the invoice to the authors.JEMCA offers specific terms and publication charges for articles that are part of a Special Collection.
Brill has signed an agreement with EIFL (Electronic Information for Libraries), a not-for-profit organization working with libraries worldwide to enable access to digital information for people in developing and transition countries. The agreement includes discounted access to Brill’s Journal Collections in the Humanities & Social Sciences, Law and Biology as well as Open Access opportunities for authors in Brill’s hybrid or full Open Access journals.br/br/
From 2024, all Brill |Wageningen Academic journals are part of Brill’s Transformative Agreement with the Association of Dutch Universities (VSNU). Corresponding authors may publish research and review articles in Open Access in any of these journals. The Article Publication Charge (APC) for these journals will be waived.
