BROOKLINE — After over half a century, Brookline diner Busy Bee Restaurant and Diner is no more. The decision to close was rather sudden, Brookline.News reports, after the diner hit insurmountable labor challenges and Chris Christakis, who owns the space along with his family, decided it was time to call it quits. However, the family is negotiating with a prospective new restaurant tenant in the space who may re-open a very similar version of the beloved neighborhood spot, if not the exact same Busy Bee, according to the publication.
SALEM — After a short resuscitation, chop suey sandwich icon Salem Lowe is permanently shutting down (again). Owners Kathleen Rodgers and Ryan Harriman announced in a Facebook post that after three years, they’re selling the Salem Lowe. “We did our best to try and save a piece of history,” they wrote in the post. “We learned a lot.”
SOUTH BOSTON — West Broadway pub Worden Hall has shut down after nearly 10 years in the neighborhood, Caught in Southie reports. Hawkeye Hospitality, the pub’s owners, are also behind Five Horses Tavern in South End and Davis Square, as well as a handful of other bars in Greater Boston.
WATERTOWN — One of Boston area’s few Persian restaurants, Shiraz Persian Cuisine in East Watertown, has shut down after 16 years. “We have cherished every moment spent serving you and being a part of this community,” ownership wrote in a post on Facebook announcing the closure. “Your support, loyalty, and shared love for Persian cuisine have been the cornerstone of our success and joy.”
