About the Stanford Bio-X PhD Fellowship Program
The Stanford Bio-X PhD Fellowship Program supports Stanford PhD students who are pursuing cutting-edge interdisciplinary research in collaboration with multiple faculty mentors. The fellowship offers students the freedom to maximize the impact and expand the scope of their work. These remarkable young researchers receive full support (stipend and tuition) from Bio-X for three years of their graduate studies, allowing them to approach exciting research questions as they create connections within the Bio-X community and across campus.
To date, the Stanford Bio-X Fellowship program has awarded 406 graduate students representing 32 different departments. The fellowship greatly enhances their potential to generate profound transformative discoveries. Alumni of the program have transitioned to successful careers in the industry sector, founded start-up companies, hold professorships at Stanford and its peer institutions, and much more. Many of our alumni who have become Stanford faculty have now mentored Bio-X PhD Fellows in their own labs!
The Stanford Bio-X Bowes fellowships are made possible by funding from an endowment from William K. Bowes and also funding from the William K. Bowes Foundation while the Stanford Bio-X SIGFs are made possible by other generous donors. These donations are helping Stanford strengthen graduate training in interdisciplinary biosciences, thereby spurring important new advances in science and engineering.
