|I am Yajing Zhang, current trustee and President of the Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) Board of Education. I have been a Fremont resident for the past 20 years. Came to the United States to pursue a master’s degree in science and later attended a PhD program at UCLA. After working in the high-tech industry and leveraging my advanced science degrees, I have become a successful business owner. In Year 2020, I was elected as Fremont Unified School Board Member District 4.
- Prioritizing Public Safety: I would work hand-in-hand with law enforcement to provide Fremont families the peace of mind they deserve. As the current school board President for Fremont Unified, I understand the importance of safe neighborhoods and campuses. I successfully advocated for the return of School Resource Officers, ensuring our students can learn in secure environments.
- Supporting Small Businesses and Community Vibrancy: Drawing on my own small business experience, I would streamline permitting and create a business-friendly climate to help local ventures thrive.
- Delivering Excellent Education: I would continue partnering with the school district to offer enriching STEM programs, workforce development, and comprehensive student support. My passion for unlocking human potential will benefit Fremont’s youth.

I would look up to my friend, Uncle Chee. He was the person I met when I landed in the USA in 1990. Uncle Chee helped me unselfishly. He helped to transfer in the airport even though it was our first meeting. Several years later, he lent me money to pay for tuition as an international student in the university. He is a person who is always passionate and eager to serve the community and help others. As a longtime volunteer in the community, he is always the role model to me. He encouraged me to run for Fremont School Board four years ago. I really appreciate his aid and guidance.
I love Rumi’s poems. He was the greatest Sufi mystic and poet in the Persian language, famous for his lyrics and for his didactic epic “Spiritual Couplets”.
One is my favorite quotes:
“You are not just a drop in the ocean. You are the mighty ocean in the drop.” As a human being, one person’s power is limited. However, united power would reach a high

Financial transparency and government accountability are foundational to good government.
Transparency: Government’s key financial information (budget, expenditures, reports) would be accessible to the public. The public has the right to understand and express comments.
Accountability: Government should work in the best interests of the people they serve. The projects in the city would follow the related law and regulation. The procedures are clear and public informative.
