William W. Young was a judge on the Ohio Twelfth District Court of Appeals. He was elected to this position in 1986 (effective early 1987) and was re-elected to consecutive six-year terms in 1992, 1998[1] and 2004. His term ended on February 9, 2011.[2][3]

Education

Judge Young received his undergraduate degree from Miami University and his law degree from the Chase College of Law. He is now married and has two children.

Career

Judge Young was admitted to the Ohio bar in 1961. He then worked as a lawyer and a Lebanon prosecuting attorney (1963-1970) until he was elected to the Warren County Court of Common Pleas in 1970. He joined his father, Warren C. Young, who also judged on that court at the time. In 1972, he became the Presiding Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, a position he held until taking office on the Court of Appeals in February of 1987.

Noteworthy cases

In 2008 he appeared to encourage Ohio Special Counsels to use their connections to and knowledge of large Ohio entities for which they hold contracts. These connections and contracts can now be used to the detriment of estates in probate courts. He also appeared to extend the reach of Ohio Probate Courts into non-Ohio real estate.[4]
