Four ballot measures were on the November 4, 2014, statewide ballot in Tennessee. All four measures were approved. The measures are all legislatively referred constitutional amendments. Topics on the ballot included: abortion, the state judiciary, taxes and gambling.
Tennessee's 2014 legislative session ran from January 14 to April 18, 2014. The Tennessee General Assembly was required to approve amendments in two successive sessions in order for them to be placed on the ballot. In the first session, the measures required a simple majority for approval. In the second session, the amendments needed to earn a two-thirds vote for approval. All four legislatively referred constitutional amendments were certified prior to the 2014 legislative session.
As of 2014, Tennessee did not have an initiative and referendum process.
