Biography
Robert Smith was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He served in the U.S. Army from 1997 to 2009. He earned a bachelor's degree from Chapman University, graduated from the University of the Potomac, and graduated from the Project Management Institute. His career experience includes working as a director of operations.[1]

I grew up in a lower to middle-class blue-collar family in Northern California. My father, a veteran and postal worker, my mother a judicial clerk for the California Superior Court. Although we didn't have much, I had a normal childhood, played football, wrestled, was a cadet in the Civil Air Patrol, and started working jobs at 14 years old. As an adult I am a medically retired Senior Non-Commissioned Officer and veteran of the United States Army. I served three direct action combat tours during the GWOT campaigns, one in Iraqi and two in Afghanistan. I am the recipient of the Silver Star Medal, two Bronze Star Medals, the Combat Infantryman's Badge and one Combat Jump Star on my parachutist wings, received for actions during those combat rotations. Upon my retirement I started a career supporting the U.S. Department of States Diplomatic Security Programs. During these periods as a Director, I led and managed large scale and sensitive programs in the protection of our Chief of Mission facilities, embassies and diplomats operating in high threat areas throughout the Middle East and Central Asia. Simultaneously I started a small security company as the Managing Director with two of my U.S. Army brothers. This company operated throughout the Bay Area all the way up the I-80 corridor to Sacramento. We provided security services to County & City Governments, VA facilities, property management companies, retailers, and private schools. I am married with 6 great kids.
- I am running for Congress because I believe in our Constitutional Republic. I have a relentless love of country, our people and strong history of service and sacrifice to our nation. California is my home, and I want to fight for it and our people. We are a beautiful State with so much to offer. I am not a career politician, nor do I think politics should be a career. I believe I can relate to many Californians due to my simple roots, my own struggles and my own experiences. I bring a unique background for the 3rd District given those experiences.
- With so much political hostility today, it seems there is more polarization than in the past. We need to bring common sense, trust and confidence into our political sphere, to include respect, and honesty. We must reduce the influence of major doners, lobbyists, corporations, and special interest groups as well as the fringe elements of the far left and right. We need moderation back sticking to supporting what Californian’s and Americans are really concerned with. The political elites need to know that Californians and Americans have had enough.
- I am a moderate, center-right. The core components of my beliefs are in support of our Constitutional Republic, limitations of government and individual rights. I believe that America is the "city on the hill", as a country, I believe in American values and that as a people we are exceptional, innovative, optimistic, with a strong fighting spirit and throughout our success and failures we continually strive to be a more perfect union. I support policies that will benefit the constituents of California's 3rd District and our great nation.
(The Economy) - Many Californians are suffering, feeling worried and hopeless. Our economy is in shambles, the American Dream is on life support. With high high costs on everyday items, wages stagnation & taxes. Many Californians are living paycheck to paycheck, sacrificing priorities to just make it day to day. (Defense) – I do not support endless proxy wars and sending billions of American taxpayer dollars to these nations that are unaccountable to the American people. (Crime) - I have a firm stance on crime, we need to bring safety and security back within many of our communities. We have let the criminals run without consequence in California long enough. There should be a zero-tolerance view on violent, sexual, and property crimes.
I have many examples throughout my life, my parents, former mentors and leaders. But it all started with my grandfather Guillermo L. Alquero, he was kind, he loved his family, humble, happy, intuitive and wise.
Loyalty to the Constitution, honesty, integrity, respect, humble, selfless service, personal courage, being a servant leader.
Leadership ability, high stress tolerance, able to build and maintain positive personal and professional relationships. Relentless loyalty to our Constitutional Republic, significant real world life experience.
To uphold their oath and defend our Constitutional Republic. To keep their constituents factually informed and represent as well as address their concerns as their representative.

The U.S. Government receives revenue from the American taxpayer. So, 100% transparency and accountability to the American taxpayer needs to be the norm.
