Raquel Terán (Democratic Party) was a member of the Arizona State Senate, representing District 26. She assumed office on January 9, 2023. She left office on April 13, 2023.
Terán (Democratic Party) ran for election to the U.S. House to represent Arizona's 3rd Congressional District. She lost in the Democratic primary on July 30, 2024.
Terán was appointed to the state Senate by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors on September 15, 2021, to succeed Tony Navarrete (D), who resigned after being arrested on suspicion of sexual conduct with a minor.[1]
Terán was elected by Party leadership to serve as chair of the Arizona Democratic Party on January 23, 2021.[2]
Terán began serving as state Senate minority leader in January 2023 and stepped down in March 2023.[3]
Terán resigned from Arizona State Senate in April 2023 to focus on her bid for congress.[4]
Biography
Raquel Terán was born in Douglas, Arizona, and lives in Phoenix, Arizona. Terán's career experience includes working as the state chair of the Arizona Democratic Party.[5]
