Incumbent Pedro Pierluisi (D) did not seek re-election in 2016. Jennifer Gonzalez Colon (PNP) won election, defeating Mariana Nogales-Molinelli (PPT), Hugo Rodriguez Diaz (PIP), and Hector Ferrer Rios (PPD) in the general election on November 8, 2016.[3]

2012

Pierluisi won re-election in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Puerto Rico as a New Progressive Party candidate. He defeated Rafael Cox Alomar (Popular Democratic Party) in the general election.[4]
