In Missouri, there is one primary agency involved in campaign finance regulation: the Missouri Ethics Commission.
Authority
Missouri law requires all candidates for state offices, "elective municipal offices in municipalities of more than one hundred thousand inhabitants," and committees to file disclosure reports with the Missouri Ethics Commission. The commission is empowered to impose fines upon violators.[1]
Organization
Members of the Missouri Ethics Commission are appointed by the governor, with the consent of the senate, to four-year terms. The chair and vice-chair of the commission are elected biannually. Members are selected from different congressional districts, and no more than three can be from the same political party. The commission employs an executive director and a staff of 21. The table below provides information on the members of the commission as of August 2015.[2][3]
