2014

Wilske's campaign website listed the following issues:

  • Communities & Neighborhoods: "As a federal representative, I am your advocate at both the local and national levels. But I am also your neighbor. Communities and neighborhoods are the pulse of America. Sadly, the term “Call Your Congressman” has lost meaning over the years. Having grown up in the Boys Clubs and YMCAs of San Diego, I have roots that run deep in virtually every neighborhood in our district."
  • Economic Opportunity: "n order for all Americans to prosper, we need to get the federal government off the backs of small business owners and the working families they employ. Let’s make it legal to work again. There are so many rules, regulations and costs that make it extremely difficult for businesses to operate and hire employees. We need to cultivate an environment that creates jobs and economic opportunities for ALL, so America’s working families can grow their incomes and enrich their quality of life."
  • Education: "Our children are the future of this country. In order to remain competitive in the era of globalization, all citizens must have access to higher education. California’s current educational rankings leave much to be desired. This is a problem that needs to be addressed from the local levels upward – not the other way around."
  • Empowering Local Government: "A distant Washington bureaucracy should not govern communities. The Tenth Amendment clearly states, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.” We need to reinvigorate this principle."
  • Energy: "Americans should say yes to any and all viable alternative energy sources as explored by entrepreneurs. By lifting restrictions for domestic energy resources, we can keep prices down and contribute to energy independence - a significant consideration for national security."[5]
