Election results
Hawaii is a Democratic trifecta, meaning that party holds the governorship as well as a majority in both the state Senate and state House. Democrats control the state Senate with all 25 seats. Democrats control the state House with 45 seats to Republicans' six seats.
Hawaii has two U.S. Senate seats and two U.S. House seats. Democrat Brian Schatz won re-election to the U.S. Senate in November 2016. Both of the U.S. House seats were also up for election in November, and both were won by Democrats.
Two statewide ballot measures were certified for the ballot in 2016. Both were approved.
Hillary Clinton won Hawaii's four electoral votes in the 2016 general election for president. Barack Obama carried Hawaii in both the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections. See also: Presidential election in Hawaii, 2016.
