Four seats on the Forest Hills Public Schools Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014.
Incumbents Martha Atwater and Susan Lenhardt ran unopposed and won four-year terms, and fellow board members Walter F. Perschbacher III and Michael Seekell also ran unopposed and won six-year terms.[1][2]

Forest Hills Public Schools is located in Kent County, Michigan. The county seat is Grand Rapids. Kent County is home to 621,700 residents, according to the United States Census Bureau.[3] In the 2011-2012 school year, Forest Hills Public Schools was the 20th-largest school district in Michigan and served 10,112 students.[4]
Demographics
Kent County overperformed compared to the rest of Michigan in terms of higher education achievement in 2012. The United States Census Bureau found that 30.9 percent of Kent County residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree compared to 25.5 percent for Michigan as a whole. The median household income for Kent County was $51,030 compared to $48,471 for the state of Michigan. The percentage of people below poverty level for Kent County was 15.6 percent while it was 16.3 percent for the state of Michigan.[3]

Voter and candidate information
The Forest Hills Board of Education consists of seven members elected at-large to four-year or six-year terms, depending on the seat. There was no primary election, and the general election was held on November 4, 2014. Four seats were up for election in 2014, two seats with four-year terms and two seats with six-year terms.[1]
School board candidates had to file with their county elections department during the candidate filing period, which ended on July 22, 2014. The deadline to withdraw was on July 25, 2014. Write-in candidates had to file by October 24, 2014. To vote in the 2014 general election, voters had to register by October 6, 2014.[6]
