The following issues were listed on Deacon's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Strengthening Families: “I was waiting tables for a living when I became pregnant with my son - a job with no health insurance or maternity leave. I know firsthand how hard it is for families without health care or paid leave to make ends meet. In Congress, I’ll champion policies that actually work for our families.”
  • Rebuilding our Infrastructure: “Working for Mayor Driscoll, I got a first hand look at the need for real infrastructure investment in our region. The time to act is now.”
  • Creating World Class Schools: “As the parent of a public school student, I have a keen understanding of how important it is for us to strengthen our public schools and give our students and teachers the resources they need.”
  • Preserving Our Natural Resources & Addressing Climate Change: “Here in the 24th District we have one of the cleanest lakes in the country - Skaneateles Lake, and one of the dirtiest - Onondaga Lake. We have seen first hand the damage that pollution does to our community, while witnessing the devastating effects that climate change is having all over the world. If we don't take action now, we will leave future generations with economic and health issues that will only grow more costly and difficult.”
  • Making College More Affordable: “I was able to pay my way through college with a combination of part-time jobs and student loans. Last March, I finally paid off those loans. We need to ensure that a college education is available to all students -- not just the wealthiest few.”
